Los Angeles, CA, and Dallas, TX — July 9, 2026 — LigoLab, a leading provider of unified laboratory information systems and laboratory revenue cycle management solutions, today announced a marketplace agreement with MarginLogic Health AI, a healthcare technology company specializing in AI-powered optical character recognition (OCR), intelligent document processing, and workflow automation.
The partnership enables clinical laboratories, reference labs, and pathology groups to integrate MarginLogic Health AI's advanced OCR technology directly with LigoLab's all-in-one LIS & RCM Informatics Platform, automating one of the most labor-intensive steps in the diagnostic workflow: requisition processing and accessioning.
The integrated solution uses artificial intelligence to capture, interpret, validate, and route data from requisitions, physician orders, insurance cards, patient demographics, and supporting documentation before automatically transmitting validated orders into the LigoLab platform. The result is faster accessioning, fewer manual keystrokes, improved data quality, cleaner claims, and more efficient laboratory operations.
“Requisition intake and accessioning is where laboratories lose time and accuracy before a specimen even reaches the LIS. Pairing MarginLogic Health AI's OCR with our platform lets high-confidence orders flow straight through, so staff can focus on the exceptions instead of retyping what should already be structured data.”
Unlike traditional OCR solutions that simply convert images into text, MarginLogic Health AI uses contextual AI to understand clinical documents. It recognizes both handwritten and printed requisitions, interprets clinical context, validates extracted information, flags ambiguous fields for human review, and continuously improves through user feedback. High-confidence requisitions are processed automatically with minimal or no manual intervention, while lower-confidence fields are routed for review to ensure accuracy.
“Laboratories shouldn't lose hours retyping what a document already contains. Our AI reads a clinical requisition the way an experienced accessioner would — interpreting context, validating what it captures, and flagging only the fields that genuinely need a human. Partnering with LigoLab puts that capability directly inside the workflow labs already run, so high-confidence orders flow straight through, and staff get their time back for patient care.”
The partnership is especially valuable for laboratories that continue to receive large volumes of faxed, handwritten, scanned, or paper requisitions. Even organizations with robust electronic ordering still process many non-integrated orders, making manual data entry an ongoing operational challenge.
Beyond improving operations, the partnership also strengthens financial performance. By increasing demographic accuracy, validating insurance information, reducing transcription errors, and capturing more complete order details before accessioning, laboratories can reduce claim issues, minimize denials, and improve reimbursement accuracy.
The integration also lays the groundwork for future workflow automation, creating additional opportunities to streamline administrative processes and improve operational efficiency.
The LigoLab-MarginLogic integration complements existing laboratory interfaces rather than replacing them. Electronic orders transmitted directly from provider EHRs continue to flow through established connections, and MarginLogic Health AI automates the processing of paper-based and non-integrated requisitions that would otherwise require manual entry. This hybrid approach enables laboratories to maximize automation regardless of how orders arrive.
MarginLogic Health AI solutions are now available to LigoLab customers, who can work with their platform representative to evaluate the integrated OCR solution using their own requisition workflows.
